“What and if, two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: ‘what if?’ what if? What if?’” – this a paragraph extracted from a letter my little brother showed me.
I am no stranger to this. There were moments in my life when I looked back and I was haunted by the very same question ‘what if?’
I’ll share with you the rest of the letter, hoping that it would give you hope and courage to follow your heart and to not let ‘what if’ haunt you.
“‘What’ and ‘if’ two words as non-threatening
as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they
have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life:
‘What if? what if? what if?
I don’t know how your story ended. But I know that if what you felt
then was true love therefore it’s never too late.
If it was true then, why wouldn’t it be true now?
You need only the courage to follow your heart…
I don’t know what a love like that feels like…
But I’d like to believe if I ever felt it.
I’d have the courage to seize it.
if you didn’t, I hope one day that you will.”
If life were to give you another chance, what would you do? What would you do to not have those haunting moment of ‘what if’.
On hindsight, I would have opened my heart, summoned courage and seize the chance. After all, you only have one life and Love is what makes it all worth while.
