‘When you try your best but you don’t succeed, when you get what you want but not what you need, stuck in Reverse. Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones’ – Coldplay
I don’t think there has ever been a time when I feel so ashamed to still be holding an Indonesian citizenship other than today.
I don’t usually post anything of politics or religions for these institutions are men made to create deeper illusions of separations amongst us. But today, I can’t stay silent. Today, if we still believed there is some sort of equality and fairness amongst ethnicity in Indonesia, we can be sure that there isn’t. Today Indonesia has shown the world that what was being said outside that there is no law and Justice that can protect the minority in Indonesia, that was all true. As a minority in Indonesia, we live in fear of persecutions Everyday, that our life and freedom Is in danger for anything that could be wrongly accused of us, should we dare to step up or speak up. Today, Indonesia has sunk into the lowest of Low, gone darker and further away from our value of ‘Bhineka Tunggal Ika’ and the time where we embrace our differences so we flourish through diversity. Indonesia has gone so dark that when there is a spark of light stand to ignite hope and love back into the shadow of the nation, it was ‘killed’
I don’t cry for politics for its to dirty Nor injustice for it presence exist to balance the nature of the world. But today,I cry for the death of hope for Indonesia, I can’t help but feel absolutely defeated.
Nevertheless, we can’t let fear sit too long in our heart. Through this challenging time, when our Hero had been defeated. May our own inner hero have the courage to come forth in a big way for each other. Gone are the days when we rely on leaders, we are each other best hopes, be defiant against oppressions and unfairness. Let’s once again find our way back to #love beyond the boundaries of ethnicity, religions and politics. We are one- bersatu Kita teguh!!
